I am an intelligent, inspirational, creative, and result-oriented educator dedicated to fostering a dynamic learning environment where students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Getting into the teaching career in the year 2007, I have grown and developed into a knowledgeable, experienced and flexible individual who is always ready to serve and learn. Indeed, we are lifelong learners.
With a passion for igniting curiosity and fostering a love for learning, I strive to create engaging and interactive lessons that captivate students' imaginations and encourage critical thinking. Through innovative teaching methods and personalized approaches, I aim to empower each student to reach their full potential and achieve academic excellence.
With the great experience that I have in teaching IB, Cambridge GCE AS/A Levels and IGCSE Chemistry, KS3 Science as well as Math in the International Schools shown on my C.V., IGCSE students under my guidance have on two occasions achieved 100% pass A* - C. That is 100% pass A* - B in GEMS school Nairobi and 100% pass A* - C in Sandford International School in Addis Ababa. 100% of the Chemistry students I privately tutored passed in the just released May 2024 IBDP results.
As an educator, I have experience in outdoor education that includes trips to chemical processing industries and student fun/bonding tours. Others have included excursions to mountainous locations and coastal regions for adventure, fun, bonding and learning. I have been part of the organisation of these educational/fun excursions in the schools where I have worked. Other roles taken have been on coordinating certain disciplines in the annual school Science fairs.
I am also computer literate and completely fluent in English (both written and spoken); skills which I believe are necessary when it comes to communication with both the community and the students. This, I believe are also necessary for effective classroom management and lesson command.
I am also a very social person, and I don’t think bonding with the Vietnamese school fraternity would be a problem to me despite the challenges in terms of cultural differences.
If chosen in the above capacity, I promise to perform my duties diligently and truthfully.
Sincere regards,
Joel O. Owino
