    Internship at Action for Autism: A College-Supported Opportunity

    I had the opportunity to intern at Action for Autism through my college, where I gained valuable hands-on experience working with students with autism. During my internship, I was involved in various tasks that helped me grow professionally and understand the unique needs of these students. Here’s what I worked on:

    1. IEP (Individualized Education Plans)

    I helped develop and contribute to creating IEPs for students, setting specific educational and behavioral goals based on their unique needs.

    2. FA (Functional Assessment)

    I conducted functional assessments to evaluate students’ abilities, behaviors, and needs, which helped in creating effective strategies for their learning and development.

    3. Sensory Forms (Occupational Therapy)

    I assisted in filling out sensory forms related to occupational therapy to assess students' sensory processing and to create strategies that would help them stay focused and comfortable.

    4. Behavioral Forms

    I worked on behavioral forms to track and analyze student behaviors, which contributed to developing behavior intervention plans to support positive outcomes.

    5. Social Skills

    I helped create activities to improve students' social skills, guiding them through interactions and helping them build positive relationships with peers and staff.
