Hello! I’m Amir Souhail, an engineer originally from Pakistan, currently living and working in Italy. I hold a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Bradford, followed by a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in soft robotics. My work is focused on combining electronics, mechanics, and software to create innovative robotic systems.

During my Master's, I worked on soft robotic grippers for rehabilitation and material manipulation, which sparked my interest in adaptive and flexible robotic solutions. At the Italian Institute of Technology, I worked on variable stiffness in soft robotics, designing and 3D printing parts, simulating mechanical and thermal behaviors, testing materials, and integrating electronics.

Currently, I am working as a Research and Development Engineer in Mechatronics Engineering, specializing in additive manufacturing and mechanical design. My responsibilities include designing components in 3D, preparing 2D technical drawings, and utilizing additive manufacturing techniques to enhance product design and functionality.

At Edgelab, I work with a team of electrical and mechanical technicians on Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) projects. I design parts, manage the bill of materials (BOM), oversee assembly, 3D print prototypes, and coordinate with manufacturers to source parts.

I use SolidWorks for 3D modeling and technical drawings, aiming to develop high-performance, functional systems. This portfolio showcases my work across CAD design, additive manufacturing, robotics, and mechatronics. I’m excited to share my projects and look forward to collaborating with others in the field.
