Experience
teacher (Apr, 2023–Oct, 2023) at Nairobi milimani secondary school
As a History and CRE Teacher for Form 1 and Form 2 students, I focused on creating a dynamic and supportive classroom environment where students could thrive both academically and personally. My role involved planning and delivering engaging lessons that aligned with the national curriculum and were tailored to the students' levels. I utilized a mix of teaching methods, including interactive discussions, multimedia presentations, and group activities, to make historical events and religious concepts relatable and interesting for young learners.
To assess and monitor student progress, I designed and administered various assessments and provided timely, constructive feedback to help them improve. Recognizing that each student learns differently, I provided additional support to those who needed it, helping them grasp complex concepts and succeed academically.Classroom management was also a crucial part of my role, as I worked to maintain a disciplined and respectful environment. By establishing clear expectations and promoting open communication, I encouraged positive behavior and mutual respect among students. In addition to teaching, I regularly communicated with parents and guardians to keep them informed about their children's progress, achievements, and areas for improvement. This allowed us to work together to support each student’s development. I also took part in professional development activities to stay current with best practices in teaching and to continuously improve my skills. Working with other teachers and administrators, I collaborated to enhance our curriculum and share strategies to support student learning.Through these experiences, I developed a deep commitment to inspiring students to think critically about history, appreciate diverse perspectives, and build strong moral values through Christian education.
