Biswajit MohantyIndian and western philosophy

I have a deep commitment to teaching and a strong grasp of Indian and Western philosophy, philosophy of religion, and socio-political philosophy. My goal as a teacher is to make these rich, often complex subjects accessible and engaging, encouraging students to explore them critically and thoughtfully.
In Indian philosophy, I help students navigate various schools of thought, from Vedanta to Buddhism, focusing on how each tradition addresses questions of self, reality, and ethics. By connecting these ideas to students' daily lives, I make ancient wisdom relevant and practical. In Western philosophy, I guide students through major intellectual movements like existentialism, rationalism, and empiricism, illustrating how these philosophies shape contemporary views on knowledge, existence, and human nature.
In the philosophy of religion, I encourage students to explore religious belief systems and spiritual experiences from a philosophical perspective. I emphasize comparative analysis, helping students appreciate diverse religious philosophies, and also cover debates around morality, the nature of divinity, and the arguments for and against the existence of God.
When it comes to socio-political philosophy, I introduce students to foundational concepts of justice, rights, freedom, and power. I incorporate classic texts alongside modern perspectives, enabling students to critically examine political theories and how they influence current social and political structures. This helps them develop a well-rounded understanding of the philosophical roots of political ideologies and societal challenges. I strive to create an interactive, student-centered learning environment where open discussion is encouraged and all viewpoints are respected. My teaching style is adaptable; I aim to meet each student’s needs, breaking down complex ideas into clear, relatable concepts. Ultimately, I seek not only to impart knowledge but also to cultivate curiosity, independent thinking, and a lifelong love for philosophical inquiry. Most importantly if you aspire to prepare for civil services with philosophy as your optional I am the man for you.
