Greetings, everyone!

I hold a BA in English literature and language with more than 7 years of experience teaching learners of diverse backgrounds, ages and abilities.

I have helped learners achieve their desired scores on exams like the SAT, IELTS, TOEFL, Duolingo and PTE. With a focus on the four skills, writing, speaking, reading and listening, I make sure that my students develop a strong command of the English language, leading to fluency and accuracy. In addition, I tailor my approach based on each learner’s initial level, adding grammar and vocabulary lessons when required. I also have a wide range of exercises and practice tests from credible and reliable online resources to fully prepare students for their exams.

I have taught one-on-one, both online and in person, as well as in a classroom of more than 20 students; hence, it's needless to say that I am well-versed in entertaining and maintaining the interest of learners through various teaching methods. I incorporate different types of exercises and activities suited to different learning styles, guaranteeing proper understanding and acquisition for all students.

I have also aided school and university students with their assignments, ensuring not only the completion of their work but also that it reflects their own efforts. I strongly believe in guiding the learners rather than doing the work for them.

Finally, patience is one of my greatest strengths, and I am always willing to re-explain and simplify concepts as many times as necessary.

Experience

  • English Teacher (Sep, 2023Present) at Christian Teaching Institute Beirut
As a classroom teacher, I am responsible for a variety of tasks, including designing my classrooms and preparing exams, worksheets and handouts. I implemented multiple classroom management strategies to keep my students engaged and calm. To add, my classroom is always a safe space for all types of learners; I introduced a "feelings corner" in the room in order to give my students an opportunity to safely express their emotions. Furthermore, teaching two classes for 12 hours per week, I ensure the inclusion of a lot of entertaining activities, group work and games. In addition, my class is student-centered, which is beneficial for two reasons. Firstly, it leaves room for the students to make decisions, whenever possible, about their learning process. Secondly, it allows me to prompt the students to think critically rather than spoon-feed them the answers, which enables proper and accurate understanding and acquisition. Furthermore, since I have students with ADHD and dyslexia in my classrooms, I make sure to include differentiated exams, worksheets and scorings to accommodate their needs and support their learning.
  • SAT, IELTS and TOEFL Instructor (Oct, 2020Feb, 2024) at Etcetera Educational Center- Beirut
I helped learners reach their desired scores on the SAT, IELTS and TOEFL exams. In general, I aided them by tackling the four skills (writing, speaking, reading and listening). I spoke slowly and clearly, and I tried to simplify complicated lessons, facilitating understanding and acquisition. My sessions were student-centered, as I often prompted them to find answers and ensured their involvement in the lesson at all times. If the learner had difficulties in the English language, I added targeted grammar lessons, vocabulary flashcards and an essay-writing guide prior to diving into the exams' requirements and lessons... It all depended on the learner's initial level. Furthermore, I continuously research to stay updated on any changes or additions to the aforementioned exams.
  • English Tutor for Children with Special Needs (Oct, 2020Feb, 2024) at Etcetera Educational Center- Beirut
I taught remedial English to children of all ages who have ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dysgraphia... etc. I maintained a comfortable and safe environment and made sure my lessons were altered depending on each student's individual needs. I incorporated a variety of visual aids (flashcards, presentations and videos), interactive online games and role-playing activities. Moreover, the worksheets and handouts I designed could be tweaked to target different types of learners. I was, and still am, extremely patient, for I do not mind repeating as many times as needed for proper comprehension. Lastly, I utilized multiple reward systems to keep the students motivated and excited.
