There are five main types of teaching styles and methods that instructors use. These include: the authority method (the lecture style), the demonstrator method (the coaching style), the facilitator style (the activity or action method), the delegator style (the group method) and the hybrid method (blended learning).
Likes being around students. Wants to help them learn. I have met some teachers who do not like kids. Then why in the fuzzy hell did you become a teacher?
Great knowledge of the subject matter. It took me a while to get this. Because having to teach something makes you really think about it. Then I could tell them “learn this well because we are going to need it for something down the road.” I know where the pitfalls are.
Organized. Has all the things needed for that lesson right there. Few things kill lessons faster than “I have to go copy this.” It will happen to me every once in a while but not very dang often
Able to make the material interesting to students. I am able to do this with humor and my enthusiasm. I act like Spanish is the greatest thing ever invented! I have a preterite song (sung to the tune of I’ve Been Working On The Railroad) and I can get HS students to sing this. Getting HS kids to sing in class is not easy.
