Hello!
My name's Babak. I decided to become a tutor to help young people fulfil their academic potential, and thereby enhance their career prospects. I especially champion patience, personablity, compassion and hard work.
I specialise in teaching: Maths - up to GCSE level; English - up to Year 9; French - up to GCSE (case by case basis). I also prepare students for Non-Verbal and Verbal Reasoning assessments for the various entrance exams (7+, 8+, 9+, 11+ and 13+). I also have experience in preparing students for the Westminster Challenge. I have accrued over 1300 tutoring hours thus far.
Mentoring can become a secondary role, due to a genuine friendship that is nurtured with tutees.
With Maths, theory is taught as per a strategic, personalised timeline. Drills and exam style questions are constantly practiced to hone technique. The vast majority of my tutees have attained a Level 8 or 9 in their GCSE/IGCSE exams.
With English, comprehension and creative writing skills are prioritised. Point-Evidence-Explain methodology is mastered, and tutees are guided on transition from writing PEE paragraphs to lengthier essays. Creative writing techniques are also developed through implementing various techniques with rigorous practice. Reading is highly encouraged throughout.
I constantly review progress to ensure timelines are being met. Where possible, I set homework to reinforce lesson theory. I am always available outside of hours to my tutees and their parents, to address any questions and provide extra help.
If that sounds like the right fit for you, feel free to give me a shout for a trial lesson!
