My name is Jesus Enrique Contreras Ayala. The first time I realized my passion for organic synthesis was during my training for the 48-th International Chemistry Olympiad Competition (2016) at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) where I had to make detailed planning and safe performance of organic reactions using a wide range of synthetic and purification skills. During my bachelor studies, I spent four years in the teaching assistantships system of the Chemistry Department, where I developed communication skills by providing explanations and support to other students about chemical topics. I had an approach to research by presenting in the ¨XXXVI Life Sciences Congress of the University of Sonora (2018)¨ the isolation of nano-particles of the tenth group of the periodic table; furthermore, proving their reduction activity in the reaction of p-nitrophenol with sodium borohydride to obtain p-aminophenol monitored with an UV spectrometer. To continue gathering experience I took a summer research at the UNAM (2019) where a rigorous programme of practices was carried out and led me to the development of skills for the identification of organic compounds; additionally, I demonstrate responsibility toward the laboratory head by weekly reporting results from the synthesis compounds with nonlinear optics properties. My career goal is to develop a sustainable society by producing efficient catalysts for organic reactions that could enhance required novel processes with the need of reducing the current environment risks.
