My teaching style in Pediatrics and Medicine focuses on a structured approach, where I begin with foundational knowledge and gradually move to more advanced topics. I believe in building a strong base before diving into complex material, ensuring that students not only succeed in exams but are also prepared to apply their knowledge in real-life clinical settings.

1. Foundational Knowledge First:

Methodology: I like to start with the basics, covering essential topics like anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology in a question-and-answer format. This allows students to first grasp the core concepts and then move forward with confidence.

Teaching Objective: My goal is to ensure that students have a solid understanding of fundamental pediatric principles before advancing to more complex topics like disease processes and treatment strategies.

2. Incremental Advancement:

From Basic to Advanced: As we progress, I introduce more challenging clinical concepts, such as differential diagnosis and comprehensive management plans. The transition from basic to advanced topics is gradual, helping students make the connection between theoretical knowledge and its clinical application.

Integration of Theory and Practice: I make sure to link theory with real-world medical scenarios so that students can easily apply what they’ve learned when treating patients.

3. Focus on Clinical Application:

Exam-Oriented Preparation: I design questions to simulate real exam scenarios, particularly for those preparing for the MRCPCH and other pediatric exams. These questions often involve case-based discussions and problem-solving tasks that reflect the type of challenges they'll face in the exam room.

Real-Life Scenarios: I frequently incorporate real-life clinical cases into my teaching, allowing students to practice what they’ve learned in realistic settings. Whether it’s managing neonatal emergencies, addressing fluid imbalances in infants, or diagnosing pediatric infections, I aim to mirror what they'll face as practicing pediatricians.

4. Interactive Q&A Format:

Engaging with Students: I like to keep my sessions interactive by using a question-and-answer format. This helps students think critically and apply their knowledge in clinical contexts. It also encourages active participation, ensuring that learning is a two-way process.

Structured Questioning: I structure my questions in a way that guides students through a logical progression—from simple identification of issues to diagnostic reasoning, and finally, to treatment and management decisions.
