I love teaching because I have fond memories learning from the very best teachers. And growing up to become one of such teachers is a thing of joy to me.
My preferred teaching style is largely task-based because it is practical, applicative (it champions applied learning as opposed to strictly theoretical learning), and it works wonders in helping to develop students' retention skills. And my resulting contextual methodology is a tested and proven methodology for my students to achieve actual improvement and results in their learning experience.
I also lean heavily into constructivism-aligned approaches, acting solely as a guide and allowing students to construct their own learning. Along this vein, I always work to effectively differentiate instruction by granting students greater agency in their learning process, collating and acting on their feedback, and incorporating more creative and practical outlets into the learning process.
Among several engagements I have had tutoring kids in families, my longest engagement was one spanning over 6 years with a family of two sons. I worked with both boys, 4 years apart in age, over the 6-year period. I tutored the older son in Maths through his 7th to 9th grades and helped prepare him for his Math and English Cambridge Checkpoint. I continued to tutor him through his 10th grade and helped him prepare for his Cambridge IGCSE in Math, English, and English Literature. I even went on to tutor him for some of his A' Levels at Bede's ( a top-ranking UK school ), in Pure Mathematics and Math Mechanics.
The younger brother I tutored concurrently in Maths also, from his 3rd grade up till the 9th grade. I even helped him prepare for his Eleven Plus exams in Maths and English during the time I worked with him.
