I don't blow my trumpet, but I am very intelligent. I quickly detect why students struggle, and then break the jinx by using appropriate teaching method.
I use a variety of teaching methods ranging from lecturer, presentation, demonstration, use of teaching aids (like notes, pictures, diagrams, power points, audio and video tapes, models, ), repetition (reinforcement), among others depending on the learning capacity of individuals; with special consideration for people with disability.
I usually connect with my online students via WhatsApp or any platform of their choice, while ensuring a powerful network.
I prefer to know their curriculum in advance in order to prepare my lecture notes in line with the expected learning outcomes. During lectures, I make the sessions interactive and often ask questions to confirm whether the students are benefiting. I also give them assignment on a regular basis to increase their work rate thereby helping them to internalize the topics.
My best secret is my initial motivation which unblocks their positive psychology, helping the to believe that the topic of discussion is doable. This has helped me to make indelible remarks in areas like mathematics, chemistry, physics, anatomy and biochemistry.
