As an individual who spent her high school participating on math competitions and teaching my classmates, I know what works for students in understanding mathematics.

The problem usually start when the student is not capable of grasping theoretical concept of a particular math topic which is why, as a teacher, I always ensure that the student is well-versed with past mathematics concepts before diving deeper to higher mathematical concepts.

My technique usually involves following this format: understanding theoretical concepts - application of theoretical concepts in real world (through visual representation and real-life sample problems) - practice (sample problems) - mastery. Through this method, the student can master the ability to analyze and solve simple and complex math problems.
