I am a highly resourceful, experienced, committed, compassionate teacher of English Language/EAL/Literature to both first language speakers and second language speakers. I strategically teach EAL/ ESOL to second language speakers, who spend a little time with me to become proficient in the four language skills of speaking, writing, listening and reading. My first and graduate degrees in English, combined with education, have equipped me with all the resourcefulness needed to prepare students for major international examinations such as Cambridge Checkpoint, IGCSE, GCSE, SAT, IELTS and other elementary, middle/high school and diploma examinations, which test deep knowledge of grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, spelling, phonetics, creative writing and literary analysis at all levels. My students have been excelling in various examinations and have assisted in building up my existing online student-base through recommendations based on their successes and experiences with me. Adult learners of English for special purposes have benefitted from my creative classes. These include business executives, tourists, content writers and report writers who needed to hone their skills of communication in English. Such learners have also immensely achieved improvement in their pronunciation/communication skills through my methodical guidance. Powered by my training in teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL), speakers of English as a second language who aim to start English learning very early have been making great improvement in their English Language acquisition, which enables them to become proficient much earlier than expected. My teaching styles vary, since different learners possess different levels of reading, listening, speaking and writing skills. They require different teaching and learning approaches. I also design personalized schemes of work for my students based on their study needs, levels and paces. More mature students work with me to determine exactly what their learning challenges and desires are, giving me the best opportunity to work out the most suitable strategies to enable them achieve accelerated success. I work with students according to their individual learning challenges and styles, providing tasks and hands-on activities that support and reinforce each topic covered in class. Students are free to ask for assistance regarding their daily activities and tasks or assignments given at their regular schools often at no extra charge. I also attempt to relate teaching and learning to student's individual immediate environment or world-view to facilitate understanding. Students are encouraged to be inquisitive and demand repetitions or re-teaching as often as possible. Learners who are friends or siblings may also arrange to study in groups, if it helps them better. Finally, I view students as friends who are in need of assistance to excel, and who spend precious time and resources for such assistance. They, therefore, deserve the best treatment, compassion, commitment and provision of sufficient resources to succeed. This is my philosophy about teaching.
