Teaching Responsibilities:
IBDP Biology:
Teach IBDP Biology, covering both higher and standard levels, and ensuring that the curriculum is aligned with the International Baccalaureate (IB) standards.
Guide students through complex biological concepts such as genetics, evolution, ecology, human physiology, and biochemistry.
Incorporate inquiry-based learning and scientific research methods, emphasizing critical thinking and problem-solving.
Prepare students for the IBDP exams, focusing on both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
Environmental Systems and Societies (ESS):
Deliver the ESS course to IBDP students, integrating biological and environmental concepts in the context of sustainability, ecosystems, and human impact on the environment.
Develop engaging lesson plans and laboratory activities to help students explore interdisciplinary topics such as resource management, climate change, and biodiversity.
Facilitate critical discussions around global environmental issues and their socio-economic implications, promoting active student engagement.
MYP 5 Biology:
Teach MYP 5 Biology, focusing on building a strong foundation in biological sciences while preparing students for their progression into the IBDP program.
Create dynamic lesson plans that foster inquiry, scientific investigation, and the application of biological concepts.
Encourage student participation in hands-on experiments, projects, and fieldwork that deepen their understanding of biology. prepare students for online assessments.
Extended Essay (EE) Coordinator:
Oversee the Extended Essay (EE) process for all IBDP students, guiding them through topic selection, research methods, and writing stages.
Organize workshops to help students understand the EE guidelines, expectations, and best practices for conducting academic research.
Provide one-on-one mentorship and feedback to students as they work on their Extended Essays, ensuring that they develop their research and writing skills.
Monitor student progress, offer advice on overcoming challenges, and ensure that students meet deadlines for submission.
Coordinate with other faculty members to ensure alignment between EE topics and subject areas.
Personal Project Supervisor (MYP):
Supervise MYP 5 students’ Personal Projects, offering guidance and support as they work on their independent research and exploration.
Help students refine their project topics, develop research questions, and design methods for investigation, encouraging creative and interdisciplinary approaches.
Monitor student progress, providing regular feedback and ensuring that they meet required milestones and deadlines.
Foster reflective practices, encouraging students to evaluate their learning experiences throughout the Personal Project process.
General Coordination and Administration:
Collaborate with other science teachers, IB coordinators, and staff to ensure the successful implementation of the IB curriculum and assessment methods.
Regularly communicate with parents and guardians to keep them informed of students' progress, particularly in relation to their Extended Essay and Personal Project.
Assist in organizing science-related extracurricular activities, such as field trips, research projects, and science fairs, to enhance student learning beyond the classroom.
Participate in professional development workshops, IB training, and school meetings to stay current with educational trends, IB program updates, and pedagogical practices.
