English Language teaching stresses on oral and written expression. Content is utmost important for any form of creative writing. If it is a story then it should have all the elements of the story. Reflective and Narrative forms are more personal opinionated, interpretive and analytical. Argumentative and Persuasive essays should have arguments carefully planned reserving the strong one for the end. Picture composition can be in the form of a story or an account of thoughts and feelings that the picture suggests. Formal Grammar is outdated and stress is on Functional Grammar. Literature includes Drama, Prose, Poetry which incorporates themes, critical appreciation and style adopted by the writers. Hence the learner should be exposed to a variety of questions that tests the comprehension skills, theme oriented questions and questions involving personal response and critical interpretation of the given lines. In Drama if we take Shakespearean drama then the treatment of English and Roman History, Plot, Characters, Themes, Setting and other issues concerned with the play, is essential to attempt adequately the structured questions set on the play. Basic knowledge and skills expected from a learner is to be developed and channeled into effective examination techniques, Keeping the above objectives in mind my teaching style and methodology varies according to the individual capacity of the learner; and that makes me a successful teacher.
