Hi I'm Jasper Brookes, I'll be looking to push student's to find more creative solutions for problems rather than by the book methods, let's have some lessons while keeping it fun and most importantly creative. These lessons won't be for everyone, as we will be seeing how we can apply our skills to industries and everyday life. Then we will be practically applying them.
I'd like to know a bit more about you. Then from there we can craft our lessons around your hobbies, interests and passion from which will help you stay engaged during our lessons.
I look forward to speaking to you soon about how we want to progress through these lessons.
A bit about myself, I'm a Robotic Engineer, Robotic Fabricator and Mechatronic Engineer. I enjoy applying my craft to industries and everyday life. Replacing mundane tasks with innovative methods. In my past projects I've applied these skills to numerous industries such Architectural, Construction and the Engineering industry.
I have a Master’s in Robotics and Advanced Construction (MRAC) from the Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia and a Bachelor's in Robotics and Mechatronics (BEng) from the University of Hull. Experienced in human-robot collaboration, sustainable design, and advanced fabrication techniques. Skilled in using robotics for innovative material use, waste transformation, and computational design. Expertise in developing interactive systems, integrating robotics into construction workflows, and utilizing design software for both functional and artistic purposes.
The following are some snippets of projects on my portfolio;
The ReWeave project creates a robotic system designed to convert construction and demolition waste into functional, sustainable building materials. It incorporates human-robot collaboration by using robots to scan, sort, and reassemble waste materials, optimizing their arrangement for efficient construction. The system applies a robotic pick-and-place technique, combining automation with human oversight to produce durable, geopolymer-bonded walls. This approach reduces waste, promotes sustainability, and reimagines how construction can be more eco-friendly.
Stack Lamination: The Pearl utilizes robotic precision to explore the potential of stacked lamination techniques. By layering materials, the project creates intricate, geometric forms that combine digital fabrication methods with traditional craft. The project highlights a seamless integration of art, technology, and materials science, redefining the boundaries between sculpture and architecture.
Visualizing Genres is a project that uses computational design to explore and represent music genres visually. By analysing musical elements and structures, the project creates dynamic visualizations that offer new ways of understanding genre classification. It allows users to engage with music in an interactive format, offering fresh insights into the relationships between different musical styles.
HRC Through the Lens of Feminist Technoscience - Being Humane explores an innovative approach to controlling collaborative robots using intuitive hand gestures, designed to improve communication in noisy and distracting environments. The goal is to enhance collaboration by allowing workers to issue commands without the need for verbal instructions, making the interaction safer and more natural. The project emphasizes human-centric design principles and the integration of intuitive technology in industrial robotics
