Tutor (Jan, 2014
–Nov, 2024) at Friends Secondary School Nairobi
As a Geography teacher, I design and implement lesson plans that align with educational standards and curriculum guidelines, developing engaging and interactive activities to enhance students' understanding of geographical concepts. I teach both physical geography, including landforms, climates, and ecosystems, and human geography, covering topics such as population, urbanization, and cultural landscapes, using a variety of teaching methods like lectures, discussions, hands-on activities, and multimedia resources.
I evaluate students' progress through assignments, tests, projects, and presentations, providing constructive feedback to help them improve their understanding and skills. I create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement, managing classroom behavior and addressing any issues promptly and effectively. I stay updated with the latest developments in geography education and integrate new knowledge into my teaching practices by attending workshops, conferences, and training sessions. I collaborate with other teachers, administrators, and parents to support students' academic and personal growth, participating in school events, meetings, and committees as required.
My qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Geography/ Business Studies, a Certified Public Accounts (CPA 3) certificate, a teaching certification or license, and previous teaching experience, with strong knowledge of geographical concepts, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to create engaging and interactive lessons, and proficiency in using technology and multimedia tools in the classroom.
