I've teached students in English syllabus both SPM and IGCSE level. My teaching requires two-way communication whereby I like to teach while talking with students for the to improve not only writing, but speaking, listening and comprehension.
Past students have shown significant improvement in speaking English with proper pronunciation and grammar. Students will also have activities other than worksheets and books to keep them interested in learning language.
An effective English teaching methodology for primary and secondary students combines interactive, age-appropriate, and skill-based approaches. For primary students, the focus is on building foundational skills such as phonics, vocabulary, and sentence structure through engaging activities like storytelling, role-playing, and songs. Incorporating visual aids, games, and hands-on tasks helps sustain their attention and fosters creativity. In secondary education, the emphasis shifts to developing higher-order thinking skills, including critical analysis, essay writing, and comprehension. Encouraging group discussions, debates, and project-based learning enhances communication and collaboration while building confidence in expressing ideas. Across all levels, differentiation to meet individual needs, regular feedback, and fostering a supportive environment for speaking and questioning ensure that students build both language proficiency and a love for learning English.
