I have been studying Quran for 4 years from my sheikh who has an igaza for memorizing the whole Quran in (Hafce from Assem reading).
I also studied Tagweed and Arabic Grammar in Zad Academy.
I have been teaching Quran for 2 years. I taught children and adults the Tagweed and how to pronounce every letter correctly.
The first thing about memorizing the Quran is to memorize Al-Fattah. So I can spend an entire hour teaching this surah as it is a pillar in the salat.
I prefer to start from the last chapter in the Quran (Jaz umma) in reverse after that I do a test on the whole Jaz to evaluate the student and then tell the student that he can start from the beginning or continue from the end (Jaz Tabarak).
While I am teaching, I will give some Tagweed lessons depending on the student understanding level and some tips for Arabic letter.
For some students, I can give him 2 pages to memorize in a week but for some they only can memorize half a page. It depends on the student's ability.
Small and steady steps is far better than large and unstable steps.
