Hello Students,

My name is Garrett Rains. I am an American citizen living in South Korea. I am very excited to have the opportunity to teach and share my experience to help new ESL learners realize their goals. My previous experience was as a TOEIC Test Writer with YBM Inc. in their Editorial Department. With YBM, I designed academic content and study guides for the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) exam. I worked on a small international team to publish material for professionals looking to earn English proficiency certifications. We partnered closely with the US-based nonprofit: Educational Testing Service (ETS). The work was challenging and very rewarding!

Prior to YBM Inc. I worked with Korea POLY School, a well-respected private ESL Academy at their corporate office on the RnD Team. While there, I was responsible for creating education content for language learners at Korea POLY school campuses. This included designing curriculum, quizzes, assessments, and monthly tests. In addition, my team and I created content for Korea POLY School’s new digital smart classroom system. Our content went through rigorous peer review before the final product was unveiled to the satellite campuses.

Along with my experience in test writing and content creation, I have previous experience as an ESL Instructor with both Chungdahm Academy and Korea POLY School. I have experience teaching Beginning Students (Kindergarten) all the way up to adult executives looking to improve their Business English skills.
