I don't beat nor flog students because I believe they can learn devoid flogging but there are methods of reinforcements I adopt to make learning efficient and effective. I also try to making sure students learn by doing things on their own and constant practice. I teach starting from the simple terms to the complex terms. I also teach by asking questions. At the end of every teaching I give my students questions on the taught topic and also homework to take home of the next topic to be taught so they can read ahead of the teacher. It helps learning to be effective and efficient.
