I am a Passionate Educator with a Heart for Learning Support, English, Psychology, and Global Citizenship. I’m an enthusiastic teacher who loves helping students discover their strengths and overcome challenges. I have a TEFL Certification. With a background in Learning Support, I focus on creating a supportive environment where every student feels valued and capable of achieving their best.As an English Teacher, I strive to make language and literature come alive, encouraging students to find their voice and communicate with confidence. My experience in Psychology adds another layer to my teaching, allowing me to connect with students on a deeper level, understanding their individual needs and helping them navigate both academic and personal growth.Teaching Global Citizenship is close to my heart, as I believe it’s vital for students to be aware of the world around them.     I am currently working at Greenwood Groove International School in Nyali Mombasa as HOD Learning Support (the whole school KG-Y13), Year 6, Year 9 and Year 10 English teacher using the Pearson Curriculum. In English my roles include:-implementing the Pearson English Curriculum effectively, ensuring that all lessons align with the learning objectives and outcomes specified, Developing engaging and differentiated lesson plans to cater to the diverse needs of learners in Year 10, Year 9 and Year 6, Designing formative and summative assessments to gauge the progress of the learners, and providing timely feedback to support their learning, Modify teaching strategies and materials to accommodate students learning abilities and styles, fostering student's reading, writing, speaking and listening skills, Collaborate with colleagues, parents and other stakeholders to ensure students receive the best support they need, Engage in ongoing professional development training to stay abreast with the current trends in English Education, and integrating technology in teaching to promote digital literacy skills. This role has enabled me to deliver comprehensive lesson plans, assess and prepare students for standardized exams.
    I joined the school when Learning Support Department was being introduced and I was tasked to come up with the policy framework to make the department successful in achieving the school’s mission of inclusion. Here I have been able to interact with learners with Autism, dyslexia, Down syndrome, Gifted and Talented, ADHD, delayed speech and other disorders. In order to ensure that the IEPs developed are effective I work closely with class teachers, parents, specialists and subject teachers. My experience includes conducting assessments, providing interventions and adapting instructional materials to accommodate various learning styles.
    In my role as Global Citizenship teacher I have developed and implemented a variety of programs that encourage students to explore global issues such as sustainability, human rights, and social justice. I have successfully integrated global citizenship concepts into the curriculum, creating a dynamic learning environment that emphasizes critical thinking, empathy, and collaboration. My students have participated in projects that connect them with peers from different cultures, broadening their perspectives and helping them understand their roles in a global community.
