After nine years of teaching in British international schools across Qatar, Shanghai, Italy, and now Prague, I've had the privilege of working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds. Since 2020, Prague has been my home, but right now, I’m on maternity leave after welcoming my little girl in February 2024. During this time, I’m excited to stay connected to education through platforms like Teacher on, where I can keep engaging with students and honing my teaching skills.

I hold a BA (Hons) in Social Science from Blackburn University, graduating in 2013 with a 2:1. In 2015, I completed my PGCE with QTS in General Primary Education at the University of Cumbria, earning an outstanding teaching qualification. During my PGCE, I gained hands-on experience across four placements, teaching both KS1 and KS2. Additionally, I hold a 120-hour, internationally accredited TEFL/TESOL certification, which I completed during a teaching stint at Camp Thailand in the summer of 2015.

Throughout my career, I’ve embraced the challenge of tailoring learning experiences to meet each child’s unique needs. I thrive in dynamic, multicultural environments, and believe in creating an inclusive, respectful classroom where children feel safe, valued, and inspired to learn. My international experience has given me the flexibility to adapt quickly, bringing energy and enthusiasm to every lesson, whether in person or online. In fact, teaching remotely during the pandemic strengthened my ability to create interactive, engaging lessons that resonate with students from all walks of life.

In my classroom, I practice a Socratic approach, guiding children to think critically and independently by connecting their prior knowledge with new ideas. By encouraging them to question, analyze, and synthesize concepts, I help them develop skills that go beyond the classroom and prepare them for real-life challenges. This method fosters confidence and independence, particularly for children who might struggle otherwise. I also love using peer teaching, where children become the experts, explaining concepts to their classmates, which builds both understanding and self-assurance.

Behavior management is another key part of my approach. I focus on positive reinforcement and encourage children to take ownership of their behavior, allowing them to reflect on their choices and take responsibility for their learning. I’ve found that creating a positive, consistent atmosphere in the classroom helps students develop successful habits, without relying heavily on sanctions.

Working with bilingual and EAL students has been a rewarding aspect of my career. I strive to create fully inclusive classrooms, particularly when teaching students with special educational needs. I’ve gained experience in crafting lessons that cater to children’s specific needs, using visual and interactive resources to help students grasp challenging concepts. Whether teaching children who speak Mandarin, Arabic, or other languages, I focus on differentiation and planning carefully structured lessons that support all learners.

Beyond the classroom, I’m passionate about personal development. As a Social Impact Leader for UNICEF at my current school and a Forest Schools program facilitator, I’m committed to growing both personally and professionally. My experience in yoga and meditation also informs my teaching style, helping me nurture creativity and mindfulness in my students. After completing my YTT (Yoga Teacher Training) in India, I’m now a qualified yoga teacher, and I integrate these practices into my teaching to encourage a more mindful and creative learning environment.

All of these experiences drive my passion for teaching. Whether in the classroom or online, I’m eager to continue shaping young minds, helping them develop into confident, lifelong learners who are excited about the world around them.
