Teaching statement
As a Researcher and Scientist in different organization in my career where it was mostly about the execution and results, I have realised that the foundations laid during formative years in school (mostly STD XI and XII) basically dictate how you approach and tackle issues in the professional/R&D domain or even outside of it. The concepts developed and taught at school level serve as a foundation for further specialised learnings for higher degrees and so their importance is undeniable. Though I believe learning is not entirely about teaching but it is very much a function of it. It is not only about the knowledge of the educator in a subject but it is very much about how he or she can dissipate that knowledge to a heterogeneous group of individuals(young learners) who may or may not be very proactive in seeking it. The teacher should be able to give the correct insights into the subject which possibly can make it interesting enough for the students to pursue it more earnestly.
The world in which we live in now is not about human intelligence alone, we are well into artificial intelligence and in these times, the idea to engage with the vibrant minds of young learners or students is both exciting and challenging for me. I think it is during these years, the students are supposed to appreciate and realize the importance of underlying scientific principles in a bit detail and are at times both confused and amused about them. As a teacher one should be able to address these issues to keep them interested enough to be able to realize the unifying symmetry spanning across disciplines of mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology.
