A student should know that he will be taken step to step even he doesn't know the basics, then we will start from there.
The most important thing is that you should be punctual with time and we should respect each other's schedule
If a student ever doesn't understand what I give him/ her, I am more than willing to continue repeating the point with giving different examples for him/ her to fully understand
