Teaching Islamic studies both online and offline has been a transformative experience, especially within the Western context. In my classes, I strive to make the rich heritage of Islamic thought accessible and relevant to my students' lives. For instance, when discussing the concept of charity (zakat), I draw parallels to local community service projects, highlighting the universal value of helping those in need. This approach not only fosters a deeper understanding of Islamic principles but also prepares my students to navigate the unique challenges Muslims face in the West, such as Islamophobia and cultural integration. By engaging with real-world examples and contemporary issues, my goal is to equip students with the knowledge and confidence to uphold their faith while contributing positively to their communities. My teaching philosophy revolves around adapting various styles to meet the diverse learning preferences of my students. Whether through lectures, discussions, multimedia presentations, or hands-on activities, I aim to create an inclusive environment where every student can thrive. By engaging with real-world examples and contemporary issues, my goal is to equip students with the knowledge and confidence to uphold their faith while contributing positively to their communities.
