As someone whose second language is English, I was able to relate to most of the challenges students face when they learn the language, and this first hand experience makes me a capable teacher because I know where to focus and how to help my students overcome their weak areas.
I started teaching part time last year, along with my degree and I fell in love with the process, as it's very satisfying to see my students improve, with each lesson they take from me.
I try to incorporate current affairs into my lesson a lot, where it is relevant, which I think is very important for the overall improvement of a student's knowledge, therefore I personally feel like the child ends up with so much more knowledge than just an English lesson after every class.
