Hi there!
I'm a overseas-trained MD, looking to do both full time and part time tutoring. I've travelled widely and have have cross-cultural teaching experience, at a wide variety of levels.
I began tutoring students in my 4th year in university, and recently held a demonstrator position at the University of Moratuwa, Faculty of Medicine, where I was responsible for assisting students with their studies and creating resources (ppts, tests, etc.) My strengths include teaching English (as a first language) and Medicine (all relevant subjects). I also have experience helping students prepare for their IELTS (academic tier), specially with their Spoken English.
My style of teaching follows the International Baccalaureate closely, which focuses on student- lead teaching. I encourage my students to ask questions, and explore the material by themselves before asking questions, so that they develop their own critical thinking and are able to synthesize information.
An average class begins with understanding what my students understand and struggles with, before we move on to an overview of the topic, and then spend time exploring the areas they are weak in. Any questions that arise will be answered either in that session or in the following, should I not have an immediate answer.
