I am a Barrister and Advocate of High Court. I have been enrolled as a practicing lawyer in Pakistan since 2019. I am entitled to appear, act and plead as a lawyer before any of the High Court, Tribunal, Court of Sessions and Civil Courts within Pakistan. I have appeared in more than 200 cases pertaining to civil/criminal appeals, trials, judicial reviews and public interest litigation. I am responsible for handling some of the most complex civil and criminal litigation that the law firm handles. I have a grasp over procedure as well as the stages of trial i.e examination in chief, cross-examination and arguments. I was assigned a research task on a case ‘Bano v Home Department Government of Punjab’ [2021] 3 LRC 343 that whether a death sentence could be awarded to a person suffering from post-conviction mental illness (schizophrenia), who has no mental functions to appreciate the rationale and reasons behind the sentence of death awarded to him/her. I have worked as a research assistant in the Office of Advocate General Punjab, where I assisted the Government of Punjab on cases of constitutional and public importance. I have also assisted the High Court in differentiating between the terms ‘stay order’ and ‘injunction’ in a reported judgment. I wrote articles on curative legislation, public hanging, strict liability, parole and probation. In November 2022, I successfully represented Gray’s Inn society in Judicial review moot competition hosted by Landmark Chamber. My six years of work with law chambers has begun to give me experience in the field of judicial review, financial crime, asset recovery and planning/environmental law.
