Firstly, my violin lessons will focus on technique and skill, but more importantly on how to make the music become a “story”, rather than just notes on a page. I have worked with students from a range of ages, and have developed the patience required to be able to teach such a sophisticated instrument. I always provide students with class notes so that they know what they worked on that day as well as what needs to more improvement. As a medical student, I can strongly say that I am very compassionate, understanding, and always have a smile on my face. Each lesson is an hour long and will also focus on the performance aspect of playing the violin, as I firmly believe that music has the ability to move an audience and engage with them. I have been performing as a classical violinist for 18 years, as well as won multiple international prizes; therefore, I have gained the skills and knowledge surrounding playing the violin as an art that I am very keen on passing to others. Overall, I believe that I have the necessary values, skills, and personality to teach a student on both the technicalities of the violin, as well as the performing aspect of it in order to tell a successful and passionate “story” to an audience.
I am also able to provide strong lessons on the Japanese language and maths/science. I have attended a Japanese supplementary school for 9 years and lived in a bilingual (Japanese and English) household for my whole life. In terms of maths and science, I have obtained excellent grades throughout high school in those divisions (for example, earning the highest grade possible in Advanced Placement Calculus BC and Chemistry) that have led me to my acceptance into medical school.
