Hi there! I'm Suhaib, currently pursuing my passion for Computer Science at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia. With a strong academic background spanning Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, and English, I bring a well-rounded perspective to my studies. Moreover, I have programming experience across various languages and technologies, including Python, C, C++, Java, Java GUI, and web development with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, alongside Flask.

In my approach to teaching, I prioritize conceptual understanding over memorization. I strive to ensure that students grasp each topic thoroughly through engaging explanations and demonstrations, fostering an enjoyable learning environment. Additionally, I reinforce learning through practical exercises and example questions, enabling students to solidify their understanding across different fields.

I teach subjects that I am genuinely passionate about and confident in, allowing me to convey enthusiasm and establish a strong connection with my students.

Experience

  • PALS Maths Tutor (Sep, 2023–Sep, 2023) at PALS, Heriot-Watt University Malaysia
    In accordance with my desire to help those around me, I volunteered at the Peers-Assisted Learning
    Support (PALS) department to help tutor students who need extra academic support . I was given the
    opportunity to teach a student pre-university maths who had poor conceptual foundation in maths.
  • IGCSE Arabic as a Second Language Tutor (Nov, 2022–Sep, 2023) at Freelancing
    Having acheived an A* in IGCSE Arabic As A Second Language, I was appointed by a parent of a junior to teach Arabic As A Second Language. Our lessons ranged from lessons on Arabic morphology, grammer (syntax), spelling as well as the four assessed components in IGCSE language exams; reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
  • Volunteering Tutor for American Maths Olympiad (Oct, 2022–Oct, 2022) at Spectrum International Islamic School, Putrajaya, Malaysia
    As an ardent math student, I volunteered to train secondary students from grades 7 to 11 for the upcoming American Math Olympiad. Our sessions included solving past year challenges, exploring advanced mathematical topics, and discussing various solutions to the same problem. The focus of the sessions was stimulating critical thinking, instead having students rely rote-learning of formulae.
