My beliefs and experiences with my previous teachers have molded me to believe that teaching should be mostly customizable. No two students are the same, their attention span, their ability to respect an academically authoritarian figure, their self inculcated sense of discipline all make a great impact on how they perceive me and the tasks that I allot. It has always been my goal to learn about the student first so as to mold my teaching style to the way that the student can understand the best. To some students, that looks like frequent testing, active recall, worksheet solving, basically methodology to make sure the taught material is available in their active memory. However some students respond to quarterly tests, frequent explanation of the topics, and revision the best as it allows them to understand the material with adequate time and give fruitful results. My job is to figure out which methodology works out with the specific student and cater to their academic needs in the respective way, and as far as results are concerned, students when they truly know the subject, results follow effortlessly so usually I worry less about those forefronts.

Experience

  • Teacher (Dec, 2023Present) at Mera India Mera Adhikar
At MIMA, I found my passion for structured teaching. At the previous organisation that I had taught for, they lacked syllabi structure for the grades and student targeted teaching approach, however at this organisation, I am not only free to teach in accordance to their syllabus plans, I am encouraged to take initiatives such as group discussions on primary subject material, dictation competitions, all in all making learning fun and increasing academic productivity.
  • Teacher (Jul, 2023Oct, 2023) at Manjil NGO
Although volunteer teaching does not sound that sought after, it certainly did not leave me short of valuable experiences dealing with children and the challenges that come along in an academic setting with young students. I taught the grades 8-10 Mathematics and Science, prepped them for their quarterly and biannual examinations, took regular class tests paired with active recall checks.
