I make use of mainly these two methodologies to teach my students (a) flipped classroom (b) spaced learning, thus students tend to understand more when a task is broken into smaller modules that can be covered over time.
I teach using a syllabus curriculum booklet following objectives for every topic and also using past exam papers to better prepare every student for any exam or continuous assessment that they would have to go through in the long run. I continously test the student from time to time to see whether they have understood the context at hand.
