Hey! I've dealt with people who've understood maths much worse than you do!
Leave it to me, I'm confident in my ability to help you.
I'd prefer an interactive session, because I think it is when students ask questions and get answered is when they learn the most. However depending on the preferences of the student this can vary.
When I teach, I try to break down every loaded term I use to it's building blocks, such that if a student was unaware or have forgetten some of it's implications they don't get confused.
