Hello, I am Yunsen, guitarist from Indonesia. I played mainly Classical, Pop and Jazz music. My lesson includes technique development, music theory, understanding the fretboard, improvisation, chord theory, transposition and aural. My goal is to let my students become independent musicians who have good hearing, reading music skills and creative (Improvisation and arrangement).
I usually mix between using score and without score during lesson. This would help student develop reading, listening and music memory. Songs are usually varied to avoid boredom which often results in slow learning. Students are also encouraged to learn accompaniment (Aka comping) and melody of the songs. This would develop students' ensemble skills, understanding of harmonies and melody.
Lastly, I think many, especially Classical guitarists, tend to ignore aural, musical memory and improvisation skills (And understanding the fretboard). In the real world (after graduating from the music college), these are the important skills (Not technique or playing perfectly etc). Have you ever wondered why many musicians without any formal training could get gigs and paid well? Well, they focus on the real stuffs.
See you soon in my lesson.
