I believe a student has to start by being able to read first. Only when he or she learns the correct sound of each letter in the alphabet and then combine the sounds together will the correct pronunciation happen. I have taught this technique thru an American program called Hooked on Phonics. And I have had success with it in teaching my own son and a other English first language students in Australia. I have lived and worked in the US and Australia a total of 30 years and have returned to my native land to help teach young people this technique to help with their English reading and speaking skills
