I ‘tell’ less. I help learners discover and learn on their own.

I believe in empowering my (co)learners and so try to ‘train them to learn’.

eg. I will give some interesting reference material(s) to a subject and ask my learner to teach me. I will stimulate inquiry by posing questions and assisting him/her in finding answers.

Over a period, the learner makes it a habit!

PS: why have you called yourself ‘former student’; when did you stop being a student?

You have asked this question and you are still learning. You are still a student according to me.

All of us are life long learners!

Also,

I am here to help:

To make the subject matter clear and

discuss why it is important.

Questions should be asked early and often.

Patience is a virtue.

Come see me before/after class

during my very extensive office hours

and if you seem me meandering across campus

or sitting on the philosophers bench

feel free to engage me in a mutual search for wisdom.

And,

I Talk less, make the students work more.
Involve them in everything, get the answers from them, make them learn on their own with guidance from me.
