Students who are appearing for West Bengal Civil service ((WBCS)and UPSC are now interested to take anthropology for their optional subject.Many of such students ask me to teach anthropology to them. I then chose to teach anthropology in very simple language and obviously in UPSC/WBCS manner.Many students from pure science as well humanities background chose anthropology only because of its scoring pattern. It must be understood that each and everything subject is scoring, and most scoring subject is Mathematics because of its right or wrong nature of answer. If answer is Wright, one gets 100 and if it is wrong o e gets 0. But anthropology teaches us the way of living of people, their biology, society, culture which is very important for administrators to make policies. If policies were people and their culture oriented, then it will become successful, and if there is a class between culture of a population and government policies, policies become less applicable.Thus anthropology helps future administrators to make policies towards population development. And because of this, I agreed to teach anthropology to UPSC/WBCS aspirants to make them aware about subject and its role in policy making.
