All great teachers have one thing in common: They show you a door and then empower you to walk through it with confidence.

This is the essence of my philosophy. My aim is to get you so excited about something that you will have fun learning it even when we’ve parted ways. It’s all about you, the student.

I use a top-down approach that consists of three parts. It begins with the essentials. The fundamental principles of a discipline, its broader context, and what constitutes excellence in that field.

Then we move on to the practical aspects. How to work with the tools, techniques, methods, and elements.

The last part involves articulation. We prove to ourselves that we have learned something by doing it.
This approach works since going downhill is easier. It is comprehensive and thorough. Nothing is left out. It also ensures that you are not so overwhelmed with the practical aspects that you forget the essence of what you are learning.

Here is some of the feedback I have received: “You’ve really answered my question and other questions I didn’t even know I had.” Another student said, “I thought my question was stupid, but you’ve really answered it with the detail and vigor that I appreciate.”

I always put the needs of my students first. I believe this focused attentiveness makes learning more fun and effective. Join me today, and let’s learn together.
