For me, teaching is all about the “Aha!” moments; the a syllabus; it’s about achieving a student’s individual learning goals in a way that fits them best. moments for a student, when things that just didn’t make sense before finally becomes crystal clear. Seeing eyes widen in wonder or smiles of accomplishment are what fuel my passion for teaching.
I recently became a stay-at-home mum after 5 years of teaching Early Years and Primary School. All these accumulated experiences have taught me the value of true, authentic learning. It’s not about simply covering a syllabus; it’s about achieving a student’s individual learning goals in a way that fits them best.
Part of my teaching career was during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through this I was able to acquire the skills I need to make hybrid learning (remote and in person) an enjoyable experience for students.
I love using games, puzzles, projects and activities to help the learning process. I myself was a learner who benefited by visual aids, tactile experiences and fun activities, all which I now enjoy incorporating in my teaching to accommodate various learning styles and preferences. I believe tools as simple as pen and paper can be powerful if wielded by an enthusiastic teacher!
