I have a Ph.D in Biochemistry and five years of post doctoral research experience in cancer and molecular biology. I currently teach as a non-tenure teaching faculty in Penn State, Harrisburg. I also work as an adjunct faculty in Central Penn College, Summerdale and Harrisburg area community college, Harrisburg. I have seven years of in class/online teaching experience at the undergraduate level and have taught many biology courses (both theory and labs). I have also designed course curriculum for many 100 and 200 level courses. I have taught various under graduate courses like Basic concepts and Biodiversity, Developmental Biology, Molecular Science, Genetics, Ecology, Evolution and Microbiology, Natural Disasters, Basic Nutrition, Human Development, Advanced biology I, advanced biology II, Genetics, Biochemistry, Anatomy and Physiology.My objective as a teacher is to motivate my students to develop their own learning interests and critical thinking—to establish a learner-centered environment in the classroom. In particular, teaching a wide range of courses during four years has made me aware of the needs and interests of diverse student body. I prepare lesson plans always considering the interconnection between the student’s own knowledge, learning abilities, the subject matter discussed in class, and current advancements in the science field. Collaborative learning is also central to my teaching philosophy in order to promote reflective thinking and improve the students’ communicative skills.
I believe that clear, open communication with students is a key element in helping them learn.
