I am Lakshmi Bharathi S, a dedicated Bioinformatics PhD specializing in genome informatics, systems biology, and applied statistics. Throughout my career, I have significantly contributed to the field by developing a web-accessible database on silkworm genetics, facilitating research for silkworm researchers across India. My work on genetic profiling and SNP variation in silkworms has been published in multiple scientific papers, enhancing the collective knowledge in this area. Additionally, I have created biologist-friendly software for pathogen detection using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data, which has greatly reduced detection time and provided valuable tools for researchers.
As an educator, I have spearheaded bioinformatics workshops at prestigious institutions like Dayananda Sagar University, Christ University, and NMKRV College. My role as a Teaching Assistant at SIT Tumakuru allowed me to lead genome informatics teaching sessions, further solidifying my commitment to fostering the next generation of scientists.
My educational journey includes an M.Tech and PhD in Bioinformatics from RVCE Bengaluru, where I achieved a CGPA of 9.23. I also hold a B.E in Chemical Engineering from SIT Tumakuru with a CGPA of 8.58. My diverse project experience spans the assessment of SNP variation in silkworms, QTL analysis of PRSV resistant papaya, and the development of a biologist-friendly pathogen detection process using NGS data.
In my professional experience, I have served as a Guest Faculty at Dayananda Sagar University and as an Assistant Lecturer at Naragund College of Pharmacy, Bengaluru. In these roles, I have identified the need for advanced bioinformatics training and organized successful workshops, receiving positive feedback from participants.
My technical skills include proficiency in bioinformatics software tools such as Strand NGS, CLC Genomics Workbench, and Galaxy. I am experienced in genome-wide association studies (GCTA, PLINK) and genetic variant annotation (ANNOVAR, snpEff). Additionally, I am skilled in chemical simulation software like Maestro Schrodinger and proficient in programming languages and tools such as R, Biopython, and Matlab.
With a strong foundation in bioinformatics and a passion for teaching and research, I am committed to advancing the field and contributing to the scientific community. I look forward to collaborating with students and researchers to drive innovation and achieve new milestones in bioinformatics.
