My teaching style leans more towards problem solving rather than just the teacher talking and the student taking notes. I combine a mix of explanation and the student trying to figure it out themselves. From my past teaching experience, this method is more engaging and retains information much better.
My past students have gotten a D on their previous AS Level exam before tutoring with me. And afterwards, after retaking their AS Levels and doing their A2, their grades have gotten up to a B in a relatively short period of time.
Even if it takes time, I try to work on what methods work best for the students, by imagining the concepts using other ideas or by simply solving different types of questions to get their heads around the concepts fully.
Even if I am quite an introverted person, I try to engage as best as I can with my students so that they can feel comfortable learning and even asking questions, as I used to feel the anxiety and pressure to ask even if I didn't understand the concept. So I will try to create a safe space for my students to share their doubts and questions as it will also help me assess their progress.

    I have worked as a Chemistry tutor for a little bit more than a year. I have helped these 2 students from going from a D to a B in a relatively small amount of time as we only had weekly hours of 2 hours. But with our tutoring sessions, they have been able to not only memorize how to solve problems, but to be able to obtain a foundation for the subject and how to answer questions to obtain the maximum score.
