Degree in Electrical Engineering from Delft University of Technology, Netherlands in 2000. He obtained his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering, Multimedia University (MMU), Malaysia in 2005. In November 2010, he joined Al-Madinah International University as Vice President for Research and Development, Dean of Postgraduate Studies, and Professor in the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology. In September 2012, he joined the School of Science and Engineering at Al-Akhawayn University as a full professor. His research interests include optical transmission systems, optical networks, quantum computing, security in all-optical networks, and grid integration of renewable energy systems. He has authored/co-authored more than 40 papers in international journals and conferences, as well as a book on Optical Transmission and Networks for Next Generation Internet Traffic Highways. Dr. Abdelkarim is also a member of the Royal Netherlands Society of Engineers, Netherlands.
