My teaching style is a blend of different approaches that I've developed over the years based on my personality, beliefs about education, and what works best for engaging my students. I would say I lean more towards an authoritative style, as I do enjoy delivering content through lectures and discussions. I find that students benefit from the structure and clarity this provides. At the same time, I try to make my lectures interactive by asking questions and incorporating multimedia presentations to illustrate key points. I also utilize a facilitator approach, especially when teaching higher-level students. I like to promote self-directed learning and critical thinking by guiding them through activities and discussions that allow them to discover concepts on their own. And for certain topics, like when teaching writing, I find a demonstrator style works well. I model the writing process using mentor texts and shared writing activities, especially for my younger, emergent writers. Ultimately, I adapt my style based on the subject matter and the needs of my students. My goal is to create an engaging learning environment that optimizes student learning and achievement. I'm always reflecting on my teaching and evolving my style to become the most effective educator I can be.
