My academic journey has been guided by a fascination with the intersection of both statistics and technology. As a Master's student in the Statistics department, at Pondicherry University, I was introduced to various statistical concepts which are employed for research and practical purposes. During the course, I attended a lecture series where I acquired knowledge on data collection and data analysis employing statistical techniques like sampling, estimation of parameters, and interpretation. In the final semester, I took a dataset for analysis that involved cleaning, manipulating, visualising, and predicting.
I pursued my Under-Graduation in Data Science at P.B.Siddhartha College of Arts & Sciences in which Mathematics, Statistics, and Data Science were the major papers. This helped me to develop a strong foundation in statistical methodologies, data analysis techniques, and programming languages like R, Python, SQL, PowerBI, and SPSS. The course provided me with robust knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of the data, while also aiding me in developing analytical skills and a multi-dimensional approach to real-life data issues. All these convinced me of my ability to accomplish the tasks I would be entrusted with at DSIM.
Apart from my academics, I also undertook an internship as a Data Science intern at Codegnan IT Solutions where I was exposed to data analysis tools like SQL, python, and statistical techniques. This experience not only strengthened my analytical abilities but also instilled in me a deep appreciation for the role of statistics in informing strategic decision-making in any sector. Through coursework and independent projects, I honed my skills in data manipulation, visualisation, and predictive modelling, gaining valuable insights into the complexities of real-world data.
