As a Kathak instructor, my teaching style is deeply rooted in the traditional Guru-Shishya parampara while embracing contemporary pedagogical approaches to enhance learning and engagement.
Philosophy: I believe in preserving the authenticity and essence of Kathak while encouraging creativity and personal expression. Each student's journey is unique, and my role is to guide them through a structured yet flexible curriculum that respects their individual growth.

Approach: I structure my lessons to balance discipline with creativity. Classes begin with a grounding in basic footwork (tatkar) and rhythmic cycles (taals), gradually progressing to more intricate compositions (tukras) and improvisational elements.

Interaction: I prioritize individualized attention within a group setting. Each student receives personalized feedback to nurture their strengths and address areas for improvement. Group dynamics are fostered through collaborative learning and occasional peer-to-peer feedback sessions.

Techniques: Emphasizing both nritta (pure dance) and nritya (expressional dance), I focus on building a strong foundation in footwork, hand gestures (mudras), and facial expressions (abhinaya). Students learn mnemonic syllables (bols) to articulate rhythms with precision.

Innovation: While honoring classical techniques, I encourage students to explore their creativity through improvisation exercises and choreographic projects. This approach not only strengthens their technical proficiency but also fosters a deeper connection to the art form.

Feedback and Correction: I provide constructive feedback through demonstrations, verbal cues, and hands-on corrections to ensure clarity and refinement in movements. Students are encouraged to ask questions and engage in reflective practices to deepen their understanding.

Performance Preparation: Beyond technical training, I prepare students for performances by refining stage presence, storytelling abilities, and interaction with live musicians. Rehearsals simulate real-world performance settings to build confidence and professionalism.

Integration: Music and cultural context are integral to Kathak. I collaborate closely with musicians to deepen students' understanding of rhythmic intricacies and melodic nuances. Cultural workshops and discussions enrich their appreciation of Kathak's historical and social significance.

In essence, my teaching style aims to cultivate well-rounded Kathak dancers who embody technical excellence, artistic integrity, and a profound connection to the cultural heritage of this classical dance form.
