Retired lawyer and part-time consultant with a passion for teaching English, public speaking, advocacy, and English Literature to teens and adults. I have until now provided my services as a volunteer to underprivileged communities and am now keen to transfer the skills and knowledge I have acquired to teaching students to be the best critical thinkers and communicators possible. Samples of my published works are available online upon a google search of my name, as well as information about advocacy and writing workshops I had conducted in the past as a volunteer.

  • Volunteer English Teacher (Jan, 2015–Jun, 2024) at Beacon of Hope Community Tuition Centre, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia
    I have been teaching English as a volunteer to underprivileged urban schoolchildren and improved not only their English literacy skills but also their writing, communication, and public speaking skills. As many of these children will join the workforce immediately upon leaving school at age 17-18, I have been helping them develop their skills in applied and business English and communication.
  • Senior volunteer, Branch Vice Chairperson, Branch Secretary (Mar, 2000–Present) at Malaysian Nature Society
    As a volunteer active in advocacy and lobbying, I have been training other volunteers and professionals in the field of environmental conservation in writing for the purposes of government and corporate advocacy. This includes conducting research and curating information for letters to the press, petitions, and letters to governmental agencies, and putting this curated information together in an articulate, coherent, and persuasive document.

Fee details

    RM80–150/hour (US$17.98–33.71/hour)

    I have especial passion for and aptitude in teaching English and English Literature to students age 12 and above. I have transferred the analytical skills I developed to score an A in English Literature at A-Levels (University of London) to reading law at degree level. I can help students comprehend, analyse, and interpret texts and apply the same analytical skills in answering exam questions on school-issued English Lit texts and unprepared texts.
