I’ve experienced 4 years of teaching adults to read the Quran. Most of my students started as beginners. I enjoy teaching them by listening and correcting them by asking them to repeat what they’ve read without noticing them. Using this method, my students are more focused and interested in reading the Quran on their own. I also teach them a simple basic tajweed class starting from makharaj harf to a basic rules for Mudud in quran. After the lesson, I usually ask them to list down all the tajweed in the ayah. This indirectly measures their understanding of the lesson. Now I have 3 students and they are adults. From my experience, they can focus on more than half an hour, and i prefer them to read between 30–45 minutes per class. One of my students knew the letters of Arabic words as she started by confusing some of the letters, and another student started to read Alquran properly. Alhamdulillah. May Allah bless all of us.
